The new year party was crap. At least by MY standards it was crap. Check the video to judge. (It was only full for like 30 mins and then died down again.)
I imagined it would be something great since it was by the beach, in the royal tent, and sort of in the middle of the desert.
It started at 7 (which is too early for a party imo), but I arrived at 9. Seeing as I had a VIP ticket, I thought it would be something enjoyable. Little did I know that VIP meant “Spend extra money and get NOTHING”. So as I saw the security guy he asked for the ticket, scanned by balls incase I had some extra ‘equipment’, and then let me in.
The place was EMPTY. I couldn’t believe it. So the waiter comes in and asks if I’d like to order anything. I ask him “What do VIP’s get? What’s the difference?”. So he points at some seats next to the DJ. Wtf… it’s like I’m at a wedding or something. As a VIP I get to ‘watch’ people… So I try to make the most of my day. I go to the VIP section with my friends, we sit down. I noticed that as ‘VIPs’ we get a small tiny bowl of Doritos…
The waiter comes and asks if we want drinks. I said “As VIPs, dont we get anything special?”. He goes, comes back and says, a bottle of Smirnoff. “Wait, so EACH VIP gets a bottle of smirnoff?”. “Yes”, he says. Now I don’t want smirnoff, I just want some juice, so I figure, what the hell, I’ll take it and trade it with someone. So he comes back and says “300 riyals please”. Wait what? “Why do I need to pay 300? How much is it usually?”. “300″, he says. “So I’m not getting a discount or getting it for free as you said?”. “No”, he replies, “I said that’s what VIPs drink”.
I could help but bust out laughing. I tell him to take it back.
Near the countdown, the dancefloor starts to get packed, so it wasn’t so bad. Every other event I’ve been to has been like that from the beginning. Ah well. At least I wasted some time…
So I was at the cinema at City Center Mall because that was where they were selling tickets for this event called Dance Parade.
It was supposed to be this New Year’s party in the middle of the desert but next to a beach resort. Sound’s cool, especially since there were top DJ’s coming in, including this guy called DJ Fourstrings. I’ve never heard fo this guy when I was touring in Cali, London or Shanghai but if they he’s good, then I guess he’s good.
So I walk up to the cinema booth and there is this philipino woman with a bit of a moustache growing.
“Excuse me, do you sell the Dance Parade tickets here?”
She looks at me with a blank face.
“It’s for the new year’s party”
“No.” she answers. Plain and simple, and turns away to count her tickets. Her precious tickets.
So I walk inside and see that near the food stand there is a music store and a huge poster for the event. I guessed that the tickets must be sold in there. I couldn’t go in because they opened an hour later.
So I went back to the booth just to let her know (in a KIND tone).
“Hi there, Just to let you know, they sell the tickets for the event inside just in case anybody else asks”, I smile.
No this is something I don’t expect. She looks at me and gives me a bit of a “I don’t give a shit” grin, and she huffs at me.
I’m surprised at this so I say, “What’s wrong with you?” She just looks at me and doesn’t do anything. Her face looked so ugly. I tried my best to ignore the hair growing on her upper lip. I then walk away. I start saying “She must have broken up with her boyfriend”. I stop all of a sudden and decide that I’m not going to let her escape with this rudeness. So I go to the manager.
He’s a kind man and goes to the table to question her.
“Is this true”, he says. She tries to look innocent. “No sir I didn’t do that.”; her face is cold while speaking to him. So I turn to him and say, “Why will I make such a thing up? I have nothing to gain!”. So he starts lecturing her about how she has to be nice to customers. While he’s speaking, she just turns her back to him and starts counting tickets again. So I ask him “Is this normal?”. “Of course not! I’m not doing anything here because I don’t want to upset the public. I’ll repremand her in my office. Between me and you, she’s been fired already and she’s got two days left, that’s why she’s acting this way.”
I leave it at that. My whole day is left in shock at her attitude. What a bitch.
Tomorrow is National Day for Qatar… woohoo.. some say that all Qatari’s will be getting a salary bonus which is mandatory by the government. Some say 50%, some say 200%. If I had a 200% increase that means my salary could go as high as 50k QR… that’s alot! I’d… be so happy!
The day after tomorrow is Eid. (It’s like Christmas for Muslims). Then on the 25th it’s Christmas. It seems everything is happening all together. It’s kind of cool.
Saw a pretty large Christmas tree in the mall today. It was pretty nice. Didn’t see much Eid decorations though… what’s going on… I kind of feel sad that the country didn’t decorate itself as usual…

This is something that’s a bit strange. I was sitting at the table eating dinner with my aunt; well no wait, I was ABOUT to eat dinner, when the glass table shattered.
Nobody hit it, nobody banged it, infact, our hands weren’t even touching the table and it broke into tiny peices. It didn’t fall and break, it shattered then fell to the ground. It’s like someone shot the table, or some sound broke it into tiny little peices.
Sadly, my mobile phone was on the table and from the burst of glass, it shattered my screen too.
It’s kind of scary. My father says an evil spirit died and it released its last energy onto the glass.
Well I’ve done a few things now to the blog. I’ve first updated the code but I’ve also added a few good features and a few new things that I’ll be adding too.
First of all do you notice my little flickr photos on the left? They’ll now be automatically updated with new photos automatically when I take them with my phone. Nice right? Hope to take more pictures that can automatically be added. (Now I need to be carefull with what pictures I take :P)
What I want to do is also let my calendar be automatically updated when I connect my mobile to my pc. Then people can see what my schedule is.
I’m also going to add display pictures so that people who visit my site alot can have their own avatar. That way it’ll be more personal.
Hope people will like my changes. We’re almost at 2008! I needed a bit of an update!
So here’s the thing, I’ve been working alot, and getting things ready and haven’t had time to do much of any exercise. I usually go to the gym alot but I haven’t really had anytime and I’m waiting for my father to speak to the guy who owns the Marriot Resort so I can get a discount. 8,000 QR is quite alot but at least I’ll have a gym, personal trainer, beach, turkish baths, sauna, steam room, and pool all for me!!!
Anyway, I’ve gained like 2-3 kilos. I’m the guy that it doesn’t really show except around the stomach area. I really hate it. It’s not alot, just a little bump, but I’m used to have a flat stomach, 65 million packs baby! (yeah right). So I’ve been following a method and I think I’ll share his site actually. Here
Now I’m a trainer myself but I thought I’d try this guys workout to see if it makes a difference. I always want to learn new ways.
My cousins also go and play football twice a week so I thought I’d join them yesterday. I haven’t played for 3-4 years now! So I tried, I noticed that my skills are lacking. I was alright, I scored 1 goal, but thats about it. A few of the guys take the game too seriously though. We’re NOT in the World Cup!!
However today my body aches me! I love this pain. Means my body is feeling something. I’m surprised because my workouts and other training never made me feel this way. I guess that I’ve been seriously slacking. I need to get a super sexay body again.
After finishing we went to my cousin Hamano’s chill spot and we just chatted until the early morning. I shouldn’t have done that.. I’m super tired -_-;
So I’ve been decorating my room. I went with the Green and Dark Brown look. It’s quite nice.
Lovely black glass computer table, green walls, awesome Full HD 42inch television with surround sound, and some nice furniture.
My computer chair arrived today, which in itself is pretty cool. Has some nice back support. I’ve got some gym equipment in here which I need to get rid of and I also need to do some shopping for some things to make the place look nice.
I need some paintings for the wall, a nice green carpet (the one I have now doesn’t match), some bathroom floor mats, perhaps some lamps, the new slider door, and some curtains. I went with this awesome dark dark brown with roman blinds.
I now just need to wait for the internet to be hooked up in the room and my satellite service and I’ll be as comfortable as I’ll ever need to be.
I’m happy. The best part is, since I’m living right outside of my fathers house, I’ll save 8-14k on an apartment and on bills so I can reinvest that money. I’ve already decided to give him half my salary for the next 6 months (that’s around 10k a month). He’ll refuse but I’ll put it in his account anyway. I need to… my father has done alot for me already. I need to make his life easier not more difficult.
It’s so hard decided what job to accept. I’m really confused.
Do you choose one where you’ll be anonymous but get ALOT of money?
A job which can give you power within a country and make you well known but with a lower salary?
Do you choose a job with a good environment and good salary however with more work?
I have my options but I still need to wait.
I’ve been waiting on my LLB to be validated by the Ministry of Education but they take ages! I have to get them to validate it before any of the jobs can send me a letter with packages… Confusion….foo….
