Since I got my first salary, I decided to take my mother out for a bit of shopping. So we went out at Seef Mall and we went to Paul to get a bite to eat. I ordered this sandwich described as a dressing and crab sandwich. When I got it, it was nothiing more than Chinese crab cakes, diced and covered with vinegar. What utter crap.

So I told my mom her budget was 500 pounds. She was a bit suprised and started to tear up. After walking around for ages and buying a few cds for my German aunt, my mom didn’t find anything so I just gave her the cash.

When I tried to use my American Express, it pissed me off because I was like wtf? as it blinked “too many tries. Number of times exceeded”. I didn’t even try once!

Anyway, I ended up buying this awesome suit from Ted Lapidus for around 40BD. I know they’re not the best or latest trend, but I couldn’t resist a bargain!

    1 cup…

Today I did something stupid. I try to be a nice guy. I try to think of people’s feelings, but sometimes I guess I do stupid things.
I saw this thing on Youtube where people were making a big deal about a video called 2 girls 1 cup. People kept saying that it was the most disgusting thing they’ve ever seen. I wanted to know what this was.

So after watching it, and discovering that it was some disgusting shit eating video, I thought it would be funny to see Anri’s reaction and we’d both laugh about it. So I asked her if she wanted to see it and I made sure she did, and after she said ok, I sent it to her. Her reply was that she was disappointed in me and I really felt like I’m a terrible guy.

She started to over-think things. Saying that I didn’t take her emotions into consideration. I didn’t mean anything by it! It was just something stupid and disgusting and I thought we’d just talk about how stupid it is.

    I apologized.

I don’t like it when people think that there was an alterior motive. *sighs*

Sometimes it really seems that the nicer your are, the higher people’s expectations are of you… can I keep up with these expectations?

No matter what happens I’ll always do my best. I regret showing it to her. Good thing I didn’t show it to anyone else. I’m starting to hate youtube now.

So today I woke up at 11am, it felt good to sleep a bit late today. I was so tired from work these days.
The rasberry tree was absolutely gushing with awesomeness. The birds were eating them and dropping them on the cars and walk way so we thought that if we picked the tree we’d have some nice snacks and we’d stop the birds from making a mess. Check out how much we’ve picked, and this is just a BIT.

Went to a brand new Iranian restaurant in Soug Wagif, it cost millions and over 2 years to design it!
I wrote a review about it here.
I called my Darling, while in the restaurant to let her listen to the music that was playing. Am I sweet?

After eating we walked around a bit and I bought some clothes. I had decided that once I got home I’d do a bit of work and then do my necessary shopping.

When I got home I didn’t have much time. My father got a new laptop from work and wanted me to explain how to use a few features on it. I entered my room, sat down and looked at my watch… there was no time, I got up again to go to the store. My father came along. Once finished, got home and my father gave me a gift, a new Sterling Silver Gucci card holder. Now I’ll look totally awesome when giving out cards.

    Check it out! SHINY!

    Before you know it

Today was quite a busy day. So I arrived at the office, sat down, said my hellos and started to do a bit of reading.
It seems that things tend to pile up. It’s fine, but I like structure and to focus on a job. There’s just too many jobs if you ask me.

So I started on project (I’m going to call it ‘red’) red, just as I’m reading documents, I then was asked to do a bit of research for project AD, as I started to do a bit of research, I’m then asked to look at the marketing strategy for my department. That’s three jobs already. So I started working on each equally, make files for different documents and then finally make a list of various things to do. Before you know it, the day is over.

Now do you want to see some American Fox News Bullshit?
    Read this
    http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,338014,00.html

So many lies and inaccuracies. They say the church is 15 minutes into the desert, it’s 5 minutes from Abu Hamoura! (A town!) They say Qataris are only 200,000! When did 50% of the population die? They said “But the Christian immigrants have sometimes collided with the native Qatari population, which practices Wahhabism, a strict interpretation of Islam.”

Wtf?! Qatar strict? Are they insane? and there is NO collission at all! They’re trying to make it seem like a larger issue than it is!

    Meet Captain Kei
    Friday March 14th 2008, 12:04 pm

So I had a great sleep. I really felt good after running around these days. I got up, took my time and then decided to meet my cousin Fahad and go to the Villaggio to do a bit of shopping and get some necessities.

After eating at TGI Fridays, we walked around a few stores and then headed into the Carrefour. Oh how I wish there was a Sainsburies or Tesco here. I don’t like the service in Carrefour.

We were supposed to head on out to the City Center but as usual my cousin was lazy so I dropped him home. I got a call from my uncle to ask if I wanted to go to the gym but I didn’t have time for it. He then told me about a special treat he had in mind for 8:30 and asked me to wear pants.

I arrived home feeling lazy and updated a bit of websites and did a bit of reading. At 8:30 I was told to meet a friend of his somewhere and we’d get started.

After meeting his friend in his Japanese Hummer (aka FJ Cruiser), we headed off to (place will be un-named).

Long story short (because I can’t go into details), I flew a simulator which costs around 15 million dollars and is accurate to the dot. It’s unbelievably realistic! I actually did quite well and was surprised at how everything was so automatic. Did you know that a plane can LAND on autopilot? It’s amazing to see the technology on it.

It was so exciting! I enjoyed it alot. I would have joined tomorrow but I can’t because of work. Ah well! Captain Kei to the rescue! How many 24 year old Lawyer/Analyst/CEO/Designer/DJ/Anything can say they’ve done this!

    Working at QNB
    Thursday March 13th 2008, 11:40 am

Well it was my second day at work. I went to the main branch at QNB and entered the office on the 5th floor.
I knocked the door of my superior and said good morning. After a bit of chatting and going off into a tangent (different subject), I then went to a temporary table where I sat down and started to read a book as thick as my face.
I took notes and wondered… “I was so happy to finish Law school, now I’m studying accounting… wtf?”.
I made a list, when through 3 chapters, answered some questions and then decided to whip out my iPod and listen to some music since the office was fairly empty (waiting for new staff).
I started to think “hmm, so this is that boring feeling people in banks tell me about”. It’s only the beginning and I’m sure I’ll be rushing around like a headless chicken soon.

The boss came out and told me about a presentation and if I was going to join. It was at the Four Seasons. “Why not”, I said. “Got to see my boss in action”. (he was presenting)

After arriving at the Four, we entered and I was introduced to people from all over, particularly from Eversheds. The way that people mingle and chat is kind of like a school reunion. Everyone trying to think of a good joke, some failing miserably.

After listing to some presentations, it felt good to see that people were actually caring about the Qatar economy and that the banks are actually doing something worth while.

It took around 2 and a 1/2 hours though. Perhaps went on for too long. After finishing, people chatted for a while and had a quick bite while I sat there thinking “hmm… ”

We then went out for a bit by the beach as the boss discussed a few important details with Evershades. I looked at my watch, I was supposed to be home at 3 to say goodbye to my dad (he left to Bahrain) but it was now 4:15. After finally leaving at around 4:45 I entered the office and had another talk with the boss, it was around 5:30 that I finally left.

So hungry… I think I’ll make sure to take a salad with me for the next day.

It’s the weekend! Let’s try and relax now.
