Crap Crap Crap!
I downloaded Windows Live Mail because I thought it would be a good program to organize my mail. I installed the settings and then went out to the laundry to drop off my thobes. Anyway… when I came back, I checked Windows Live because it was downloading my emails and updating the folders. I had over 3GB so it was taking some time.
While checking the folders, I clicked on the sent folder and noticed that there were at least 20 emails which I had sent a long time ago (around 2005) but they were in sent 2008… TODAY.
Now there’s some problems… either it RESENT the emails to those people OR those emails weren’t sent even though I thought they were! If they weren’t sent back in 2005 I really understand a lot now… if it WAS sent and I resent it, I’m going to be super embarassed….
I woke up this morning naturally at 7am. Isn’t it a great feeling when you wake up without an alarm? It’s like you’re body is saying “You are so awesome! Wake up now!”.
I had decided that after a bit of a workout I’d go to City Center Carrefour to do some shopping for the BBQ. It’s BBQ day after all! After arriving and finding a nice parking spot, I went off to get a quick bite to eat.
So.. shopping time. I entered Carrefour and was sadly told (after only putting the meat in my basket) that they were closing since they close between 11am and 12:30pm on Fridays. Sadly I had to rush out. I went home, relaxed and got a call from Nick who suggested we go watch a movie. It was Hulk time.
I think this version of the Hulk was much better than the first to be honest, however the ending leaves you thinking ‘wtf?’. Straight after the movie I went back to the super market to finish off some more shopping and we both went home to do the preparations.
Chop. Mix. Stir. Done! It was later in the day that we waited for the rest of the dudes to show up. Aasim, his two friends, his cousin, my cousin Fahad, and Husam. We relaxed outside at the table with the stereo, a nice set up and some sheesha. It was a really good day out.
Flick on the television and tune into one of those ‘work’ shows. Something like Boston Legal, Scrubs, Criminal Minds, Bones, and other shows and you’ll see that they actually make work look interesting. I can imagine people thinking, “Hey! I want to be a neuro-surgeon because I’ll look buff, get chicks and party all night long!”. That is after all what Mr. McSexy looks like and does.
Working in an office which involves sitting down all day gives you a gut. It’s as simple as that. You sit in your place for a solid 8 hours looking at a computer screen, sit during meetings while trying to either understand what’s going on or not drift away, sit when you’re reading important documents, sit when you drive to and from work, sit when you arrive home to eat, sit when it’s time to watch tv or play some games, and finally lay down to go to bed.
Yes my dear friends, we office-folk are sitters. I hereby recommend that baby-sitters get the same salary as a General Manager.
I’d like to think that I’m quite healthy most of the time. I do try to eat what’s good for me (thinks of a cheese burger with extra cheese and … you know what, skip the burger, just give me a lump of cheese!); I exercise whenever possible (three days of weight training, three days of cardio, one day of swimming laps), and I’m usually very positive. Since starting at my job however, exercising is now considered a luxury since I’m so drained of time.
Enter WiiFit. Alright, it might just be a gimmick, but simply moving around for 30-60 mins a day should improve my health right? Plus I’m feeling extra tired and that’s not a good sign! Let’s get back on topic. This guy basically used his Nintendo WiiFit game (which is essentially exercise routines in the form of video games) for around 45 days. He lost around 1.3 kilos a week which added up at the end of the day. I thought I’d give it a go since it’s too hot outside in good ol’ Qatar land to jog and it seems like something that should keep me interested for a while.
Let’s see what happens. Will I be yet another sitter?
I think I’m having a mid-life crisis… and I’m only in my mid 20’s….
I don’t know what to say. I’m feeling so much pressure at the moment. Pressure from my work. Pressure from my family. Pressure from my businesses. Pressure from my future. Pressure from my country.
Too many things for me to think about and I’m feeling like I can’t handle it all. I need to stay in Qatar and make difference, to run my businesses. I need to make as much as possible to reach my goals.
Arab culture is getting to me.. I don’t know what I’m thinking right now… I don’t know..
Qatari’s are talkers. Yes. They talk alot. No I’m not talking about talking to one person, I’m talking about talking in general. Talk talk talk.
You know my family whines whenever I don’t call them or visit them. My family is huge. Six aunts and 6 uncles. They moan that I don’t call them a lot or don’t visit them regularly (why do I have to initiate contact?) and then tell me I’m working too hard. Work starts at 7 and it ends at 2:30. I usually work overtime until around 4. I have goals and aspirations. I want to be a head or a director one day. The one’s in my family that don’t complain have all made it and work hard, the ones that do are doing nothing with their lives.
If I called every single one of my family members (around 50 cousins), I wouldn’t have enough time in the day! Arabs love gossip too. I wish people focused on their own lives rather than trying to involve themselves with others.
In general, Qatari’s are lazy. Don’t get me wrong, Qatari’s are amazingly friendly, hospitable, and I’d like to say that we have alot of potential, however the old generation just don’t realize that the world’s moving beneath their feet. The new generation are improving. They are getting better and working harder and trying to succeed.
It’s nice to care about all your family, but let’s delete the complaining.
This is great! The new 3G iPhone is coming soon! I’m so excited at the fact that I can pick it up in Japan on July 11th. And it’s WHITE!
Also Qatar is going to be the ONLY country to have it in the Gulf. Well the ‘first’ country anyway.
Well the guy’s had planned this day for a while now. The plan was to have a full day of sport.
This post should interest a lot of you as it’ll suggest stuff for you to do.
I got up at 8:30 am since we were going to start the day with breakfast at the Intercontinental at 9. After arriving we immediately dove in to get our food. The chefs prepared some scrambled egg for me. I asked for Japanese style (I had to kind of walk them through it); it’s spring onions, cheese, and a bit of sugar. I know, you’re thinking ‘sugar?’. Yes, just a bit. It tastes awesome. I also had some fruit sushi which was something I hadn’t seen before.
We then headed off to city center. First on the list was Bowling. Now I should mention that when my friend Laeek came to pick me up, I jabbed the palm of my hand onto the side of his door and got a fairly deep poke. Took the whole day before the blood would stop. It STILL hurts! What company (Audi) makes a sharp car door?!
After bowling it was a bit of Billiards. Two on two while we waited for Laeek to get back from Qatar Airways so we could go Ice Skating. All I can say is that I showed them how the game was played.
After waiting a bit, Laeek seemed to be running late at the QR office so we went ahead to Winter Wonderland (That’s in the City Center). The blades there are quite dull. I think that all public skates are fairly blunt anywhere, but after a bit of skating I think it started to sharpen up.
Next? Shooting! (Over into the New Markhiya area) You got to love the fact that you don’t need a gun license to shoot a shotgun or a sniper rifle. I’m pretty proud of the fact that I hit nearly all of the clay pigeons. The Qatari guys there are so kind and friendly. Always smiling and they give some great advice for targeting. I have to say that sniping targets is more fun for me. No recoil compared to the shot gun. My shoulder kind of hurts right now. Of course holding the gun with my cut didn’t help. It stung, but I’m a person who perseveres!
Finally we ended the day at the Doha Golf Course. (That’s at the end of Dafna, as if you’re driving towards Lusail). After looking like an idiots (I don’t like Golf), we spent a good few hours finishing off a 9-hole. Ah my body ached. I sunk into bed. A very very nice day.
I’ve been calling Qatar Airways ticketing since YESTERDAY.
I gave up after waiting with the phone ringing for over an HOUR.
Today I called four times, each time waiting around 25 minutes. Once at 9:30am, once at 10:30, once at 1pm and now it’s 4:24pm and I’m STILL waiting. People should get FIRED for not doing their job. NO WAY they are THAT busy! Good thing my dad’s Head of Civil Aviation. Someone’s going to get fired.
Oh and here are the direct lines to Qatar Airways ticketing in Qata
4496158 and 4496157
Heres the number for customer relations if you want to make a complaint 4496221 (nobody answers that either)
If you want an answer, call the Al Wakrah office 4630973. For me, an Indian guy answered and he was rude, but at least they answered. *sighs*
There’s been a lot of talk about the Olympics. I for one am very excited about the thought of us getting it. Not only does Qatar have nearly unlimited cash to spend on such an event, but 75% of the Olympic requirements have already been met. However I’m not only excited at the event itself.
It’s the fact that it will be bring further development and change. Qatar will be under the world’s spotlight and will be scrutinized. No doubt the Western media will try to put an evil spin on Qatar since it’s an Arabic country just as they did with China, but we’ll prevail as long as the right train of thought is there.
Think about it! New laws which’ll open up so many doors. Expats will most probably no longer need an exit permit, the Human Rights Authority will be given more funds and responsibilities, there’ll be more construction in anticipation for the games which’ll hopefully provide more accommodation than there is demand, plus it’ll bring a huge amount of businesses interested in opening up within Qatar.
Why do I personally want the games? I want to show the world the meaning of Arabic hospitality. I want to see foreigners come into Qatar and enjoy Qatari kindness. I want those who are corrupted and seedy to be exposed as a result of scrutiny, I want laws to open up and there to be more open-ness within the country, and I also want there to be a better perception of our culture. The list is endless! At the end of the day, Qatar’s Olympic motto is just right, the Doha 2016 Olympics will be ‘bringing change’. (more…)
